Accomplishments:

Year 2007:  Software Firm in Portland, OR – Professional Technical Support
Work with end users, management, network administrators, technical consultants, co-workers, developers, to restore systems that have been destroyed, damaged, mis-managed, subject to viruses, windows updates issues, subject to network policies that prevent proper operation of firm software.  I have modified many situations to function and have set standards of productivity using my own computer equipment.

1. Introduced multiple monitors with up to eight web ex unattended sessions running simultaneously which allowed me to handle a much greater load during the training period.
2. Many of the problems I have solved have been around for up to three years. Lack of in the field technical experience on the part of current and past personnel contributed to the problems not getting resolved. Having “in the field experience” has made the difference in problem resolution.
3. Many of the suggestions for improving the customer experience I have initiated have reduced repeat service calls by 99%.
4. Because of my experience I have been able to bring peace to situations that had escalated to the discomfort of management. During an e-mail/Exchange transition the previous owner asked me if I had e-mail. I responded yes. He did not have e-mail and asked me how I did this. I told him I brought food to the technical person.
5. I have been able to persuade technical departments to be cooperative with me to allow our software to work within a safe environment.
6. I have been able to bridge between developers/programmers to resolve many end user issues while keeping the impact on the developers/programmers to a minimum.

Year 2006: Legal Firm in Portland, OR
Windows Server Administration. Citrix admin and Desktop. Maintained, serviced computer hardware, added RAM, replaced power supplies, trouble shoot hardware and software. Helped with network interface, resolved many technical issues that had not been resolved over a period of years. I purchased hardware, software, reviewed licenses, setup a daily routine to reduce machine failures, taught users how to use equipment. Setup dual monitors for productivity gains. In one situation I was using three screens, two computers multiple operating systems and documenting procedures that were difficult to document because the software applications would not work in the different operating systems. I did this to keep up with the work and was able to reduce my time by 10 hours each week. I installed, upgraded and maintained Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems. I performed software and hardware troubleshooting on their microcomputers.

1. Created Daily Routine to prevent machine failures. Down time reduced by 98%.
2. Changed dots per inch in printing to 300 DPI, with a projected savings of $20,000 per year in toner to printers and copiers. This also reduced a major load on the servers in relation to pdf printing.
3. Identified and removed phone lines that were not in use, and still being paid for.
4. Interacted with current technical firm, and gave solid data for problem resolution.
5. Extended the life of older computer hardware by as much as two years.
6. Documented procedures so they could be done by existing staff.
7. Created a 32 hour a week job, and set a level of technical service.
8. Introduced Dual Monitors for both regular CPU’s and Citrix.
9. Took a failing employee in Citrix, and changed a few settings to the success of the employee.
10. Rerouted scanned files to a watch directory, and reduced scanner breakdowns by 99%.
11. Updated Intranet and Internet websites.
12. Handled many network tasks that previously had required people at four times my rate.
13. Setup Server Blackberry devices.
14. Resolved many small technical irritations through configuration and education.

Additional Projects: Multiple web site development. Voice enabled Podiatrist Physician with latest speech recognition software and wireless headset for roaming speech recognition application. This particular physician has saved an average of two hours of each day as a result of my mixing multiple technologies.

Year 2005:
Private School: Took a pile of parts and computers that were not functioning and updated equipment, and reduced technical problems by 98%. Dealt with many web site issues. This school did not have enough computers for all of the people who needed to enter data. My solution was to create a web form where people could enter data from their home, and import into the main program at work. I worked with Win98 operating systems. I performed hardware, communications software upgrades including memory boards, motherboards, hard drive expansions, printer interfaces and modems.
Legal Office: Brought them through the Security issues of the Internet and updated and replaced computer equipment. I worked with NT4 operating system and replaced this with updated equipment.
Chamber of Commerce: Full Web Site Management, assisted in getting grant for new computer equipment.
I managed multiple web sites and in one case web enabled an attorney to her office data for telecommuting purposes. I created a complete online publication that had all of the elements of a paper newspaper. I have built, managed and hosted over 20 web sites.
Usability Study using Morae: Using Morae to analyze several different jobs I was able to write scripts to automate functions at the computer, and reduce the chance of injury in one case.

Year 2004:
Major Seed Company: I brought old legacy systems to current standards including updating database with Access. I also developed a menu system to allow the user to run at my level of computing.
Project for FBI through a Court Receiver to shutdown a former client who was running virtually when they had shut the firm down physically. The FBI did not have the skill set to preserve the evidence.
Real Estate firm in Reno: Setup for SharePoint collaboration, all tablet PCs, wireless network plus many software applications.

I have hand built numerous computers for many different professionals. I did this to get the quality of the equipment equal to the task of speech recognition.
I did multiple projects for the Department of Defense around the US teaching injured workers speech recognition including a lead attorney in the Chief Counsel’s office for NASA. Included are projects for BLM, Army Corp of Engineers, and Air Force.
Legal Office: Took a pile of computer parts, and created a full six person network with full service, warranties to production within one and one half weeks.

Year 2003:
I taught multiple Doctors nationwide speech recognition. Highlights would include a Doctor in Atlanta who spent $90,000 a year on transcription. I made one change to his office and cut an additional $40,000 per year from his office budget. Of the $90, 000 in transcription I cut this to $50,000 first year using a template system laying on top of Office XP.

Year 2002 and before:
I have organized two national seminars for speech recognition consultants. One in Tennessee and one in Massachusetts. I was the winner of the Pacific NW Office XP challenge showing Microsoft how to use their own speech recognition engine. I am a contributor to the existing Dragon speech recognition product.
In a legal firm there was a process that took thirty minutes each time, and it meant closing down programs and the boss asked for this report several times a day. I studied the situation and turned the procedure to one mouse click. This resolved a major stress in the office.

I introduced speech recognition to Kaiser Permanente and Providence physicians. Many small physician practices are still using speech recognition I trained. One clinic in Spokane saved close to $300,000 in transcription expense.
